The F-Scan® system from Tekscan, Inc. provides bipedal plantar pressures using an ultra thin, disposable sensor, which is placed inside the patient's shoes. The system is a simple, non-invasive means to immediately determine orthotic efficacy, identify areas of potential ulceration, screen diabetic and other neuropathic patients, and observe gait abnormalities. The F-Scan enhances your ability to evaluate, substantiate and document your diagnosis. Used by top footwear companies, hospitals, and universities, the F-Scan system is an incredibly valuable tool for providing quantitative information in both clinical and research-oriented settings. Each F-Scan sensor includes 960 sensing elements, the result of a 60 x 21 sensing array design. The sensors' unique and patented construction enables them to be trimmed to fit any size shoe. These reusable sensors have a spatial resolution of 4 sensels/cm2. The sensors are ultra-thin (0.15mm) thus they are minimally intrusive and are useful both with and without orthotics. We are the only sensor manufacturer that can make that claim and support it. The standard operating pressure range of the sensors is approximately 160 PSI (11kg/cm2) maximum. With an 8 bit digital output of the electronics the user can read pressure differentials of ~ 50g/cm2 resolution. The F-Scan sensor detects, displays and records plantar forces while they take place, without interfering with the normal gait pattern. Scanning speeds of 850 Hz and a USB connection with new VersaTek electronics make foot assessment and gait analysis easier. Innovative Windows-based software presents information frame-by-frame, played like a "movie" and shown in either 2-D or 3-D display. Easy to interpret pressure analysis graphs are an additional benefit to your evaluation. Tekscan's F-Scan 6.0 software enhancements include new calibration techniques that enhance accuracy and ease of use. Optional features and add-ons to the F-Scan system, include TAM (Timing Analysis Module), video synchronization, and more! Versatile VersaTek electronics allow customers to add on other systems to their existing system for different applications such as barefoot, grip, prosthetic and seating.
