Weed Instrument has introduced a new sensor, designed for non-intrusive temperature measurement in sanitary tanks. The sensor (Model #3142B) is especially beneficial where wipers or mixers can interfere with an inserted probe or thermowell. The sensor, attached inside a welding spud via a CIP sanitary clamp, is easily removed without need to disturb the mounting hardware. Cleaning, replacing, and calibrating operations are thus greatly simplified. Featuring Teflon isolation, the sensor measures the temperature of product inside the tank instead of the vessel wall surface, mounting flush with the tank interior to track temperature changes. This set-up eliminates damage to traditional insertion-type probes.
The 3142B allows easy access from the tank exterior, further simplifying installation and cleaning. The sensor can be replaced or retrofitted on an existing tank without the need for an operator to enter the tank.
The new sensor measures process temperatures up to 500ºF (260ºC); the Teflon isolation protects the sensor from heat and false tank surface readings. The sensor is available in multiple sizes and finishes. A signal conditioner with connection head is optional.
