Various techniques and test equipment are used to assess changes in material behavior under specific environmental conditions. These techniques can be used to determine melting points, coefficients of thermal expansion, glass transitions, solidus-liquidus temperatures, rates of cure and specific heat of various materials. These tests can be performed in a variety of environments, including inert and reactive atmospheres.

Specific methods offered by The M&P Lab are differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermomechanical analysis (TMA), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and high temperature differential thermal analysis (HTDTA).

Thermomechanical Analysis (TMA): 150 to 1000 ºC
