USA Tolerance Rings provide an economical solution to torque management in an application. The tolerance rings is a deceptively simple product that contains a series of wave forms that apply a spring tension between mating components such as a gear and a shaft. The tolerance rings can allow slippage during torque overland conditions preventing mechanism damage. Once the overload is relieved the tolerance allows the mechanism to function as if nothing has happened. Shear pins are a one-time solution requiring the mechanism to be repaired. Tolerance Rings compare favorably to mechanical clutches and are significantly lower in cost.
