SAUGET, Ill. – Just months after introducing the thinnest air filter media available, Universal Air Filter® is now offering a 0.125-inch-thick filter design that meets the UL 94 HF-1 rating and dust arrestance requirements for NEBS.

While this product is applicable for any industry or market, it is ideal for telecom and server applications where a filter is required to fit in a smaller space beneath a fan tray or behind a bezel. Horizontal cross-flow chassis designs can use this filter to slide along the air intake face like a circuit card.

"Before this design, air filters would take up at least a quarter inch within a chassis," said Mike Miano, engineering and sales manager at UAF. "Not only does this framed assembly require less space, it allows for more plenum area between the fan and filter in tight-fitting installations. The additional plenum space provides better filter surface area utilization for dust loading, and by maximizing the filter surface area, the pressure drop is reduced."

In addition to using the thinnest media available to meet NEBS standards, this filter can be applied to unique designs requiring multi-sided, special-shaped frames. An L-shaped filter may be necessary on the front of a chassis to clear a bezel latch or system light pipes. The assembly can include a flattened, open Uni-grid support or an integrated, open-perf pattern to maximize airflow or match industrial design preferences. Screens also can be added for additional flame arrestance or EMI shielding.

A design engineer looking to evaluate these filters or any other UAF product can access UAF's complimentary, round-the-clock prototype service available worldwide via www.uaf.com. The prototype service provides design engineers with assistance in meeting critical design, testing and evaluation deadlines for air filter media. To receive a prototype, the engineer can submit a request on the Internet or via telephone, fax or e-mail. Once the prototype is submitted, it is produced and shipped within five working days.

Universal Air Filter products are RoHS Compliant and meet the following standards and classifications: UL 94 HF-1, ATCA, UL 900 Class 2, CE, Telcordia, NEBS GR-78-CORE and GR-63-CORE, micro TCA and ETSI.
