A voltage regulating transformer (VRT) used on the bypass of a UPS must handle large currents to permit downstream protective devices to operate properly. Ferroresonant transformers and many voltage regulators cannot pass enough current for proper fault clearing. The Sure-Volt brand VRT provides a minimum of 1000% fault clearing current as well as minimal voltage drop during 100% load pickup.
