VICTREX PEEK Polymer's Thermal Properties Make It a Great Choice for Today's and Tomorrow's Most Demanding Applications
VICTREX® PEEK™ polymer is a linear aromatic semi-crystalline thermoplastic. It is widely regarded as the highest performance material capable of being processed on conventional thermoplastic equipment. Unfilled and filled VICTREX PEEK polymer is supplied in the form of pellets, powder or ultra-fine powder. Pellets are generally recommended for injection molding, extrusion, monofilament and wire coating operations. Powder is used for extrusion compounding, while fine powders are generally used for coating processes and compression molding.

VICTREX PEEK 450G, 450GL30 and 450CA30 are general purpose grades. When integrated with fillers such as glass or carbon, the wear and strength properties are enhanced.
Key features and benefits:
- Superior high temperature performance - VICTREX PEEK 450 polymers all feature a glass transition temperature of 143°C (289°F) and a melting temperature of 343°C (649°F).
- VICTREX PEEK 450GL30 is 30% glass fiber reinforced for added strength and dimensional stability.
- VICTREX PEEK 450CA30 is 30% carbon fiber reinforced for added wear and friction resistance.
- This product family features all of the benefits of VICTREX PEEK polymer including excellent strength, impact resistance, chemical resistance, moisture and hydrolysis resistance and flame retardancy.
With a glass transition temperature of 157°C (315°F) and a melting temperature of 374°C (705°F), VICTREX PEEK-HT polymer delivers extended high temperature performance over VICTREX PEEK 450 polymers, while offering all of the benefits of VICTREX PEEK standard polymer, including toughness, strength and chemical resistance.

- Up to 3 times the wear resistance of standard VICTREX PEEK 450 polymers at high temperatures.
- Excellent long-term creep and fatigue resistance over a wide temperature range when compared to standard VICTREX PEEK 450 polymers.
- Substantially higher tensile strength and flexural modulus at 250°C (482°F) when compared to standard VICTREX PEEK 450 polymers.

VICTREX T-Series polymers are the unique solution for applications requiring superior high temperature resistance, good compressive strength, excellent tensile and flexural strength and low fatigue properties. VICTREX T-Series polymers are a proprietary blend of VICTREX PEEK polymer and Celazole's® polybenzimidazole (PBI). This is Victrex's highest performing melt processable thermoplastic for use in applications requiring physical property retention and wear resistance at elevated temperatures.

The trend towards higher temperatures and loads in mechanical systems requires a high-performance thermoplastic that can meet the demand for increased efficiency, noise reduction, weight reduction, miniaturization and functional integration, all at a reduced cost.
VICTREX PEEK polymer can successfully replace steel, aluminum, bronze, titanium, PTFE and other high performance materials because it offers an ideal combination of mechanical, thermal and tribological properties with excellent chemical resistance.
VICTREX PEEK polymer can be used as a matrix for thermoplastic composite pre-pregs made of carbon, glass or aramid continuous fibers. Greene, Tweed & Co Chooses VICTREX PEEK-HT Polymer for Oil and Gas Applications
Victrex high performance materials are increasingly being chosen for a wide array of energy applications due to their unique combination of chemical, electrical, wear, hydrolysis and temperature resistance properties.
In the oil and gas industry, Greene, Tweed & Co. chose VICTREX PEEK-HT for its Seal-Connect® 8 pin connector. Designed to withstand the high temperatures generated in oil field exploration and production, VICTREX PEEK-HT provides the needed long-term reliability at elevated temperatures after prolonged exposure to an applied pressure of 140 MPa at 200°C (20,000 psi at 400°F). VICTREX PEEK-HT also allows short-term exposure to pressures of 172 MPa at 260°C (25,000 psi at 500°F). The VICTREX PEEK-HT connector may help reduce product failure caused by assembly and secondary operations.
SKF Group Adopts VICTREX® PEEK™ Polymer for its Bearing Cages
The SKF Group, a leading global supplier of products, solutions and services in the area comprising rolling bearings, seals, and lubrication systems, was interested in a high performance material solution for its bearing components.
Cages are mechanically stressed by frictional, strain and inertia forces and can also be subjected to the chemical action of certain lubricants, lubricant additives or products of ageing, organic solvents or coolants. The relative importance of these considerations can be affected by other operational parameters such as elevated temperatures, shock loads, and vibrations. Therefore design and materials are of paramount importance for the performance of the cage as well as for the operational reliability of the bearing itself. For these reasons, SKF has developed cage types based on VICTREX® PEEK™ polymer, designed to meet the requirements of the automotive industry.
VICTREX PEEK polymer was chosen for its high performance properties including strength and flexibility, high operating temperature range, high chemical and wear resistance and ease of processing. In addition, VICTREX PEEK polymer does not show signs of ageing after prolonged exposure to temperature and oil additives up to +200 °C. Due to these outstanding features, VICTREX PEEK cages are available for ball and cylindrical roller bearings, like hybrid or high-precision bearings and for some dedicated automotive customer variants.
