The open source image processing library Open CV now running on all VC Smart Cameras
Image processing expert Vision Components has adapted the open source program library OpenCV to its proprietary VCRT operating system, implementing it on all VC Smart Cameras. OpenCV was originally developed by Intel® and published under a BSD license, running only on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux systems. Integrating it into Smart Cameras has increased their application range, since OpenCV includes many algorithms enabling, for instance, movement detection, facial recognition, object tracking, contour processing and image segmentation. The fast image processing library complements VC Smart Cameras, which in-dependently execute all image processing routines thanks to their integrated intelligence, thus replacing standard PC-based systems. The compact cameras are suitable for industrial environments and incorporate all components required for image processing: image sensor, processor, frame grabber, interfaces and several PLC I/Os.
