Currently, Visual Communications Company's CNX 460 Series indicator light assemblies are available with or without attached wires. These lamp assemblies with threaded bodies are installed through the front of a panel and secured with an SAE style nut. Because the panel openings are only as large as the body of the lamp assembly, wire terminations (i.e. ring terminals, connectors or attachments to a cable harness) must be accomplished from behind the panel after the lamp assembly is installed. This requires the technician to use tools to secure the assembly and make the electrical connections. Generally, this must be accomplished in restricted working areas. The CNX 460 Series 10mm LED indicator light assembly, with its spiral thread, simplifies the assembly process by allowing the socket with wires attached to be mated with the panel-mounted lens from the reverse side of the panel. Because this socket is secured from behind the panel, the unit can be supplied with pre-assembled wires and terminations. The attached terminals, sockets or connectors provide a simple plug and play type installation. This basic mounting procedure permits the insertion of the lens into a panel opening from the front. The socket with wires and harness attached is firmly secured to the lens manually from the opposite side of the panel without the use of tools. Secure engagement of the socket to the lens requires only a half turn eliminating any strain on the attached wire leads. The CNX 460 has been designed not only to meet the needs of all indoor and office equipment applications, but has been successfully demonstrated and tested for harsh environments. This unit, with its newly designed spiral mating threads, provides a superior mounting system that has been tested by an independent laboratory and exceeded all test criteria. For shock, the unit was exposed to 6Gs of force. Vibration included multi-axis table shake from 0 to 2000Hz. Temperature cycling performed from -40°C to +105°C. The unit was water tested to a depth of 100 meters. The assembly was tested for UV, solar and ice encasement. In addition, the unit meets NEMA 4 requirements for water, ice, and dust. The CNX 460 socket permits easy LED replacement, accommodates the use of various 5mm LEDs, bi-lead mono-color, tri-lead tri-color and six-lead full color devices. This assembly consists of a low-profile panel lens with Fresnel rings that increases the viewing angle up to 180°. The rear-mounted socket is provided with terminals and a lock washer. Lenses are available with an optional watertight sealing ring. Wire leads can be supplied in standard lengths from four to twenty-four inches. Additional options are offered for the termination of the wire leads (i.e. stripped ends, ring or spade terminals and various types of header connectors). The button-style lenses are molded of optical quality, U.L. 94 V2 polycarbonate plastic and are available in six colors including red, amber, green, yellow, blue and water clear. Sockets are also molded of a U.L. 94 V0 thermoplastic material. The lock washer is full-hardness steel, nickel plated; while the seal is a special 90-durometer weather resistant o-ring. Wire leads are UL 1007/1569, 24-gauge, stranded, with a rating of 300 volts, 105°C.
- APPLICATION - Conxrite cable assemblies are used in industrial, automotive, heavy equipment, control, security projects, inside and outside applications. Properly installed, assembly meets NEMA 4 for water, ice and dust conditions.
- VERSATILITY - Conxrite cabling system simplifies display panel to power source interface. Various options include: LED, size, color, mono, bi-color, RGB, Wire size, color, length. Header connector, plain, positive locking, single, dual row. Inline connectors, ring and spade terminals.
- BRIGHTNESS - Conxrite enhances the apparent brightness as well as the viewing angle of panel mounted LEDs. Mono, multi-color, infrared, and photo detection devices can be displayed in this manner. LED illumination can range from 20 to 40,000mcd.
- INSTALLATION - Conxrite assemblies plug and play approach simplifies cable installation. Slip lens thru a 9/16" panel opening, slide locking ring onto lens barrel, socket secures onto lens in one turn or less. If over tightened, socket is designed to slip back into previous thread. Secure by re-tightening ring.
SPECIFICATIONS
- MATERIAL: Lens - Polycarbonate, UL 94 V2 Socket - Poleyester (white), UL 94 V0 Moisture seal - EPDM Locking ring - FH Steel, Nickel Plate Terminals - Phosphor bronze, tin plate Wire 1007, 22 awg, stranded, PVC jacket
- ELECTRICAL: Terminal - 3amp continuous service. Unique design mates to round, square, rectangular leads .017" to .030"
- MOUNTING:
- Mounts thru front of panel. Slide lens thru panel opening. Slip on locking ring and twist on the socket. Only one turn or less secures the socket to the lens, which reduces twisting and torque on the cable wires.
