The STD Series mounts have been developed to control or eliminate problems of mounting components on PCBs. These include difficulty in maintaining uniform component height currently requiring the use of mounting jigs and fixtures or tubular spacers. Another is the lack of a suitable method of mounting tri-lead devices. Additionally, ordinary tubular spacers used as standoffs do not provide the necessary vertical or lateral component stability, nor do they protect the leads from electrical shorting. All of these shortcomings are addressed by VCC's new bi-lead and tri-lead component standoffs.

Obtaining uniform LED height control on circuit boards is simplified with the use of these mounts that are available in varying lengths from one hundred thousandths of an inch in increments of ten thousandths of an inch.

The design of this standoff allows for the PCB-mounting of single, dual, and tri-lead devices with centers on standard spacing. The STD Series standoff has a cylindrical body with channels for both lead separation and lateral stability. Incorporated in the channels are tabs which retain the component and standoff as a package allowing for preassembly prior to board stuffing and wave soldering. The mounts' molded standoff pads allow for thorough removal of contaminants resulting from the PCB soldering process.

The STD standoff gives the engineer extensive flexibility and benefits in his choice of PCB components. This is most apparent with the unit's unique capability in mounting bi-lead and tri-lead LEDs, IR emitters/detectors, resistors, capacitors, transistors and diodes while still resolving previously noted problems.

  • Application - P-C-LITE component standoffs are designed for printed circuit board mounting of multi-lead devices ie. LEDs, IR emitter/detectors, lamps, resistors, capacitors, transistors and diodes.
  • Versatility - P-C-LITE component standoffs cope with various problems in mounting passive components. These include height control, lateral stability, lead retention, lead shorting and removal of soldering residue.
  • Design - P-C-LITE component standoffs provide lead separation and retention for both bi and tri-lead components. Molded tabs retain the component and standoff as a unit permitting preassembly operations. Clearance pads are provided for proper PCB cleaning.
  • Installation - P-C-LITE component standoffs permit the use of various shapes and sizes of LEDs, as well as other bi/tri-lead components. Device height control is simplified with mounts ranging in lengths from .100 to 1.00 inch in increments of .010 inch.

Specifications:

  • Material: Standoff - Thermoplastic U.L. 94 V0. Color, Black.
  • Design: Channels provide lead separation and lateral stability for components. Molded tabs retain component leads within the standoff for preassembly. Raised pads allow for easy PCB cleaning.
  • Mounting: Suitable for passive components, bi-lead, tri-lead, 3mm, 5mm, LEDs, resistors, capacitors, diodes. Standoffs vary in height from .100 minimum to 1.0 inch maximum, increments of .010 inch.
