XiTRON Technologies 2801 & 2802 Advanced Single- and Two-Channel Power Analyzers
The XiTRON Technologies models 2801 & 2802 represent a major advancement in the performance and features of low-cost power analyzers. Previously, design and test engineers, or production managers, had to settle for limited features and moderate performance to meet the tight budget constraints of many R&D and production environments. Higher performance and advanced features such as graphics displays, measurement history charts, limits testing, and modern communications interfaces were only available in very expensive high-end power analyzers.
The 2801 & 2802 were designed specifically to meet the increasingly demanding requirements for manufacturers of consumer and industrial products including power supplies, battery chargers, computers, home audio, appliances, and lighting. More and more, manufacturers are required to meet efficiency and/or standby power specifications per ENERGY STAR, the California Energy Commission, or any one or more of many other national standards. To be able to test to today's low standby power levels and to provide accurate efficiency numbers, users previously needed to use expensive high-end, multi-channel power analyzers with wide dynamic ranges and high accuracy.
The 280x analyzers provide a basic volts and current accuracy of better than 0.08%, approaching the accuracy of analyzers costing many times more. They also provide an incredible dynamic range measuring greater than 150Apk and 2000Vpk, but also measuring down to much less than 1mArms and 1Vrms while maintaining 0.2% accuracy at such low levels. The 280x also provides two independent channels (volts and current in each) that can be used completely independently or synchronously to provide real-time and highly accurate efficiency measurements. The 2802 can also be used for 2-phase 3-wire or 3-phase 3-wire measurements using the 2 wattmeter method. These capabilities of the 280x make it an ideal analyzer for ENERGY STAR or standby power testing.
In addition to tremendous accuracy and precision, the 2801 & 2802 pack a feature set that is unmatched by any analyzer at any price. They include an integrated line switch, AC or DC, which can be controlled from the front panel, from user I/O, or through the many communications interfaces. This switch, combined with the graphical inrush waveforms and startup screens provide the user with a complete profile of the startup of their product/system. The analyzers provide graphical history charts of a myriad of parameters over time periods of a few milliseconds to 145 days. They provide DC charge and discharge measurements useful for power supply, charger, battery and capacitor manufacturers. They also include a selection for LOAD or SOURCE measurements with wiring compensation and voltage burden compensation.
The communications interfaces on the 280x include RS-232, GPIB (IEEE-488), and dual USB (Host and device) as standard, with a future option for Ethernet. The USB interfaces can be used for control, monitoring or printing. Data logging direct to a USB Flash drive will also be an option. There are also 12 user-configurable digital I/O.
Also available free of charge are several XView software applications for viewing data and logging data to a hard drive in Excel-compatible formats. In addition, we have introduced XView software for automating the data collection and reporting for two ENERGY STAR requirements; ENERGY STAR Program Requirements for Computers Version 4.0 and ENERGY STAR Program Requirements for Consumer Audio and DVD Products.
Starting at only $2495, these analyzers provide the performance and features of analyzers costing 3 to 5 times that amount.
