XP Power announces the availability of the ECL series of ultra compact, low power AC/DC power supplies. Two series are available in the range, the 10W ECL10 and the 15W ECL15. Both supplies are available in 3 mechanical formats: open frame pcb mount, encapsulated pcb mount, and open frame chassis mount. The ECL10 open frame pcb mount unit measures just 1.0 x 2.0 x 0.9 inches (25.4 x 50.8 x 22.8 mm), and has a power density of 5.6 W per cubic inch. It is believed to be the world's smallest 10W AC/DC power supply in this type of package. The ECL series is ideal for helping manufacturers meet the specifications for compact, portable or fixed end products. In particular, the units are perfect for low cost, low power applications where the available space is at a premium.
The ECL10 and ECL15 are available with single output voltages of 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 15, 24 and 48 VDC. Full power is supplied across the whole input voltage range of 85 – 264 VAC or 120 – 370 VDC. The units operate across a wide range of temperatures, from – 20 degrees C to +70 degrees C, with derating above 50 degrees C. The units operate at full power with convection cooling so there is no need for additional thermal components or fan cooling. The peak load capability of the supplies is 130% of nominal, for up to 30 seconds. This feature means that, for applications that require higher peak power, the ECL series can be specified in place of higher power, more expensive devices.
The ECL10 and ECL15 are suitable for use in both Class I and II isolation systems, meaning they can be used with or without an earth connection. This makes it ideal for portable equipment or where a reliable ground source is not available. External filtering is not required since the power supplies already meet EN55022, level B for conducted and radiated EMC.
About XP Power:
XP Power provides power supply solutions to the electronics industry. Power supplies take the relatively high voltage alternating current supply from the mains and convert it into various lower voltage, stable direct current outputs required to drive electronic equipment. All electronic equipment requires a power supply.
XP Power customers are original equipment manufacturers who can be characterized as having expertise in their particular area, whether it be medical devices, communications or industrial automation, but generally do not have in-house power supply expertise. XP provides this expertise, assisting customers to design-in, from an extensive range of products, a suitable power supply that meets our customers' costs and technical requirements.
XP Power has over 5,000 products at its disposal plus access to custom manufacturing capability where necessary. These products range from AC-DC power supplies, DC-DC converters necessary for Distributed Power Architectures, through to power protection products.
