Ultra compact DC/DC converters achieve 20% footprint reduction and maintain industry standard DIP-24 pin-out
XP Power announces its JCA series of miniature, board-mounted low power DC/DC converters. Measuring just 1 x 0.8 x 0.4 inches (25.4 x 20.3 x 10.0 mm), the device's shielded metal package is 0.25 inches (6.4 mm) shorter than the 1.25 inch (31.8 mm) industry norm. Using the customary 24-pin DIP layout, the units occupy 20% less printed circuit board area than traditional products. This allows designers to reduce the size of new developments or add in more features, while maintaining the industry standard pin-out makes the converter an ideal drop-in replacement for existing designs.
The JCA series comprises 2, 3, 4 and 6 Watt models, each offering a choice of 4 nominal input voltages of 5, 12, 24 and 48 VDC. Input options, covering a wide 2:1 voltage range, are 4.5 – 9.0 VDC, 9 – 18 VDC, 18 – 36 VDC or 36 – 75 VDC with under-voltage lockout as standard. For each input voltage, single output models offer +3.3, +5, +12 or +15 VDC outputs or the dual output versions provide +/- 5, +/- 12 or +/15 VDC. Outputs are fully regulated, varying no more than +/- 0.3% over all input conditions, and less than +/- 1.0% across all load conditions. The JCA series offer basic input to output isolation rated at 1,500 VDC and case to input or output is 500 VDC.
Suitable for a wide variety of application environments, the converters operate from -40 degrees to +100 degrees C with derating above +75 degrees C. No additional heat sinking or forced air cooling is required. The maximum case temperature is +100 degrees C.
The series has EN, UL, CSA and CE safety approvals and meets EN55022-A for conducted emissions and EN55022-B for radiated emissions without any additional components.
The units carry a 3 year warranty and are available from stock and also through Newark.
Prices range from $11.21 for OEM quantities of the 2 watt, JCA02 model to $21.06 for OEM quantities of the 6 watt, dual output JCA06 model.
About XP Power:
XP Power provides power supply solutions to the electronics industry. Power supplies take the relatively high voltage alternating current supply from the mains and convert it into various lower voltage, stable direct current outputs required to drive electronic equipment. All electronic equipment requires a power supply.
XP Power customers are original equipment manufacturers who can be characterized as having expertise in their particular area, whether it be medical devices, communications or industrial automation, but generally do not have in-house power supply expertise. XP provides this expertise, assisting customers to design-in, from an extensive range of products, a suitable power supply that meets our customers' costs and technical requirements.
XP Power has over 5,000 products at its disposal plus access to custom manufacturing capability where necessary. These products range from AC-DC power supplies, DC-DC converters necessary for Distributed Power Architectures, through to power protection products.
