Yaskawa Electric America is pleased to announce the release of Linear Size software. The software provides both the sizing novice and the motion expert with a comprehensive tool for choosing an appropriate linear motor system.

Inputs for the software can be minimal to deliver a basic theoretical F=ma calculation with the added feature of modeling the motor coil temperature. Additional inputs allow for fine-tuning a selection for applications where the information is readily available. Some of these inputs include: friction co-efficient, external force inputs, and heat sink modeling, all of which can have a big impact on the final selection in competitive situations.

Linear Size will select the matching amplifier, advise if required external regeneration is required, and if the stroke length is input, select a combination of magnet track that is suitable for the bill of material.
