Yaskawa Electric is pleased to announce that the total number of shipments of Yaskawa AC servomotors worldwide reached 5,000,000 units, since the introduction of its first line of servomotors in August of 1984. This represents an increase of 1,000,000 units since June, 2004.
Identifying the growing need for servo control in a multitude of industrial machinery and equipment applications, Yaskawa developed and introduced its first family of AC servomotors in 1984. Since its introduction, the company has experienced incredible success and sales growth with their servo products. Within its first decade of production, the company achieved the one million sold mark. In the next decade, following the release of their popular Sigma Series of servos, sales reached over 4 million. Just two years later, Yaskawa achieved the 5,000,000 sold milestone.
Servo control systems have become an essential requirement to makers of machinery and equipment directly affecting the performance, capabilities, and value of their machines. Recognized for its efficiency, precision, and accuracy, servos are used extensively in a variety of industries, including packaging, machine tool, printing, food processing, robotics, and textile. In recent years, servo control has found its way into new markets and applications, such as semiconductor processing and assembly machinery.
