Newnan, Georgia - Yokogawa Corporation of America introduces the PR300, a new addition to the POWERCERT® family of panel-mounted power and energy meters. It was developed for worldwide use with universal mounting options (DIN or ANSI), universal wiring from 1p2w to 3p4w systems, and a universal AC/DC power supply. Voltage inputs are menu-selectable from 150VAC up to 600VAC. CT/PT ratios can be set from the front panel or with communications.
The PR300 compact multifunction meter, with three separate LED displays, will measure Amps and Volts per phase, Watts, VAR's, VA, Hz and Power Factor (all with instantaneous/min/max readings). Other measurement functions include active energy (kWh, MWh), reactive energy (kVArh, MVArh) and Apparent energy (kVAh, MVAh). In addition, RS485 serial communications with MODBUS® RTU/ASCII protocol is a standard feature; and Ethernet 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX is available as an option. Other options include demand current/power measurement with alarm output, selectable analog output, pulse output and digital input for remote integration or alarm reset.
Development Background
Until recently, the POWERCERT® series of power monitors were available mainly in Japan where the need to reduce energy consumption was particularly pressing. Following the Kyoto Protocol in February 2005, the implementation of practical measures to reduce energy consumption and cut back on greenhouse gas emissions has been on the increase all over the world. As a result, the demand for power monitors used in energy saving applications is rising worldwide; and the PR300 fulfills a host of power monitoring functions for that purpose.
Major Markets
o Manufacturers of electrical power equipment such as switchgear and generator controls.
o Power utility suppliers and Industrial end-user production sites and buildings.
o Automation and energy management systems for commercial/institutional/governmental facilities.
