The ZF Servoplan planetary gearbox has been designed for direct attachment to servomotors. Different sizes and the strict application of a module system make it possible to use them in almost all fields of automation engineering.

The servodrives together with a servomotor provide a co-axial input and output. The output shaft of the servomotor is connected with the sun gear of the servo transmission via a clamping coupling, with the sun gear driving three planetary gearbox wheels that rest in a pinion cage. The gear wheels revolve around a ring gear with internal gearing. Because the power is transmitted to the three planet gears, the forces are evenly distributed, which allows a compact structural design with a high power density.
