Product Announcement from Capacitec, Inc.
Capacitec (www.capacitec.com) offers high temperature (to +800°C) linear proximity sensors by transferring their experience in high temp non-contact displacement technology to engineers looking for the need to measure absence/presence in extreme environments. Capacitec also offers standard temperature linear proximity sensors in very small diameters down to 0.250 inch/6.35 mm.
A next-generation low cost producer of flat solar panels produces their photovoltaic (PV) modules using cadmium telluride (CdTe) thin film technology. The panels are produced in an automated, dry, in-line continuous process where a semiconductor film stack is deposited on a TCO coated sheet of glass with a back metal contact. The Capacitec high temperature linear prox sensors are used to position the panels during manufacture in the vacuum process chamber. The sensor solution includes high temperature probes with ceramic insulated beaded cables along with a vacuum feed -through flange mount that allows them to be installed directly in the high temperature (800°C) vacuum process chamber.
Capacitec non-contact displacement sensors have also been used as lower temperature linear proximity sensors. Users often find the small diameter (0.250 inch/6.35mm) to be an important benefit when small sensor size is an important criteria in their application.
