Zero-Max Adjustable Speed Drives are a proven method for changing operating speeds. They eliminate the need for expensive AC/DC drives or variable pitch belt drives. Output speed is infinitely adjustable from 0 to 400 rpm with an 1800 rpm input speed. These drives provide speed control for inputs from 1/4 to 1-1/2 HP applications with output torque ratings from 12 through 300 in-lbs. Accepting input speeds from 0 to 2000 rpm, output speed changes can be made quickly and easily, whether the machine is running or idle. Zero-Max Adjustable Speed Drives can be used as a prime mover connected to a motor, or as a secondary drive connected to a shaft in the machine's drive line. When used as a prime mover, the drive acts as a variable speed device. When used as a secondary drive, it becomes a variable ratio device. Output speed for the drive is set quickly and easily using the drive's control lever which has a built-in locking mechanism. An optional self-locking screw control for more precise settings is also available. Additional design features include: easily mounted in any position; handles any input (chain, belt, coupling, etc.); permits slow or fast, small or large speed changes; easy to install -- no wiring required; compact; factory lubricated; economical. Provides trouble-free operation in virtually any type of power transmission system. Typical applications include: textile machinery (tension control for looms), industrial sewing machines (pulls cloth through sewing machine), commercial meat slicing (vary traverse rate of slicer mechanism), pumps (vary speed/flow rates), materials handling (adjust speed of conveyors), pumps (vary speed/flow rates), air seeders (adjust seeding rates for various types of seeds/fertilizers for agriculture), printing (adjust speed of take-off conveyor) and braiding machines (to adjust tension at take-down rollers). Five drive sizes are available including models with either a clockwise or counter-clockwise output rotation to meet specific application requirements. Two models are available that have a reversible output feature. A range of electric motors and gear reducers are also available for these drives.
