Product Announcement from Multi-Contact USA
Measuring electrical devices under load with hand-held test probes always bears a risk. Multi-Contact's safety test accessories help prevent severe consequences in case of short-circuits and other unforeseen incidents.
Multi-Contact looks back on many years of experience in providing electrical test & measurement accessories, and is well aware of the risks attached. The safety aspect has therefore always been in the focus of our broad range of test leads, connecting plugs, sockets, clips, probes and cables.
Multi-Contact provides accessories for the test measurement categories CAT I to CAT IV. Particularly in tests measurements on high-power circuits – e.g. the line entry of an electrical installation – safety precautions are essential, as short-circuits may have fatal consequences. Here, next to specific testing equipment high breaking capacity fuses should be employed, which are able to shut down very high short-circuit currents. With safety test leads by Multi-Contact, severe consequences of short-circuits can be avoided.
ADJUSTABLE TEST PROBES (Brochure)
With the newly developed adjustable test probes it is possible to vary the length of the tip and therefore the possible field of application (different rated voltages and measurement categories), as a result of which the tester can manage with fewer probes.
In order to alter the length of the tip, the inner part of the handle can be shifted in relation to the outer part and locked in two defi ned positions. To rule out the possibility of inadvertent shifting, its position can be changed only by means of a tool.
The measurement category and rated current as determined by the position of the movable inner part are shown in an indicator window.
The adjustable probes are available in a plug-connection version with a Ø 4 mm safety socket at the rear end of the probe for use with standard Ø 4 mm test leads, or in a version with a permanently connected lead.
For different application fields there are tips with different forms available:
- Ø 4 mm tip, made of nickel-plated brass, with Multilam (hard copper alloy), e.g. for contact to mains sockets with protective conductor in European countries
- Round Ø 2 mm Monel® tip for universal use Monel® is a registered trade mark of Special Metals Corporation.
- Flat tip 1.6 mm x 5 mm, made of nickel-plated brass, e.g. for contact to mains sockets in the USA or in the Asian area
