Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)

Closed circuit television (CCTV) is used for area surveillance and remote monitoring. Some closed circuit television systems can record events and trigger alarms. Closed circuit TV is different from broadcast television in that all of CCTV's components are linked through cables or other direct means. In a CCTV system, live or prerecorded signals are sent to a predetermined group of receivers over a closed loop, either through coaxial cable or as scrambled radio waves.
