Industrial Carts and Industrial Trucks

Industrial carts and industrial trucks are used to transport equipment or materials. There are many different types of products. Cabinet carts have compartments with doors or drawers. Container carts or utility carts are suitable for general-purpose applications. Drum carts or drum trucks are designed to lift and move drums. Hand trucks, appliance trucks, and instrument carts are used to move equipment. Janitorial carts, cleaning carts, linen carts and laundry carts are often used in hotels or restaurants. Office carts or mail carts contain shelves or racks for office materials such as mail and files. Pallet trucks or pallet jacks have forks that engage pallet slots. Panel carts or board carts are used to transport large panels or sheets. Platform carts or platform trucks have a low platform or deck and handles for positioning and transportation. Pipe and bar trucks have a low platform with cradle geometry to prevent material from rolling off. Platform dollies are low platforms with wheels. Shelf, tray and stock carts or stock pickers have a wide variety of applications. Tilting and dumping carts are designed to be tilted and dumped with relative ease. Waste or recycling carts are wheeled containers for the removal of waste or recyclable materials. Specifications for industrial carts and industrial trucks include load capacity, dimensions, material of construction, and tire type. Capacity is the maximum force or load supported by the cart, truck, or dolly. Length and width refer to the longest and shortest dimensions, respectively. Materials of construction for industrial carts and industrial trucks include aluminum, fabric, plastic, steel, wire mesh and wood. Aluminum is corrosion-resistant and relatively light. Plastic is corrosion-resistant and may include molded features such as rounded edges. Wood is economical and used typically for light-duty or general-duty carts. There are two basic tire types for industrial carts and industrial trucks: pneumatic and solid. Pneumatic or air-inflated tires provide great load-cushioning and drive traction. Solid or cushion tires do not puncture and require less maintenance than pneumatic tires; however, solid or cushion tires offer less shock absorption.   

Industrial carts and industrial trucks differ in terms of features. Some products have adjustable, removable or tilting shelves. Others are nesting, collapsible or have foot, hand or parking brakes. Industrial carts and industrial trucks with riding boards have wheels and a steering mechanism for quick maneuvering and flexible delivery in and around large warehouse facilities. Carts and trucks with a spring lift have a platform or shelf that lifts during unloading to maintain an ergonomic loading and unloading height.
