Automotive Products and Equipment

Automotive products and equipment includes original and replacement auto parts, as well as the tooling and machinery used to build components, systems, and complete vehicles. These vehicles include on-road and off-road automobiles, commercial trucks, buses, and motorcycles. Automotive products and equipment for cars and trucks vary with vehicle type, make, and model. Typically, replacement auto parts include wheels, tires, seats, bumpers, specially-tinted or heated windows and mirrors, and stereo equipment. Automotive equipment for vehicle maintenance and repair includes lifts and jacks, battery chargers, engine analyzers and scopes, and all types of auto service equipment.

There are many different types of automotive products and equipment. Categories include exterior body parts and interior body parts, as well as car seating and passenger restraint products. Exterior body parts consist of bumpers, convertible tops, coatings, handles, doors, horns, grilles, tires, windows, and windshields. Compressors, heat exchangers, air conditioning systems, consoles, dash boards, instrument panels, and pedals are examples of interior automotive products and equipment. Seating and passenger restraint products encompass air bag controls, air bag inflators, seat assemblies, seatbelts, seating controls and related hardware.

Chassis products, fluid handing components, and electrical and electronic components are additional types of automotive products and equipment. Chassis products are clutches, brakes, hoses, springs, wheels, brake parts, and wheel parts. Fluid handling components are items such as pumps, tubing, and valves. Electrical and electronic components for automotive products and equipment include audio components, batteries, capacitors, resistors, connectors, controllers, lighting, fuses, motors, and switches. Specialty and proprietary automotive products and equipment are also available. Often, these automotive products are aftermarket parts.

Heavy-duty vehicles and engines require different types of automotive products and equipment. For example, to replace truck parts, an auto technician may need sturdier jacks and lifts, wrenches with different torquing capabilities, and suspension, engine, and transmission components. For towing and hauling applications, diesel trucks are often used. Diesel performance accessories include air intakes and headers, diesel exhaust systems, air separation systems, power exhaust systems, and fuel injection performance kits. Automotive products and equipment for electric vehicles (EV) and other alternative, fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles and automobiles are also available.
