Off Road and Heavy Equipment Products

Off road and heavy equipment products are machines, vehicles, and related systems that are designed for use on unpaved roads and construction sites. They are designed for off road driving or civil engineering tasks such as earth moving. Off road vehicles (ORVs) include all terrain vehicles (ATVs), sports utility vehicles (SUVs), snowmobiles, and other machines that have extra ground clearance, heavy-duty tires, and a front and rear locking differential. Typically, these vehicles are used for off roading over gravel, sand, mud, snow, and rocky terrain. Heavy equipment includes construction vehicles such as earth movers and bulldozers. Specialty and proprietary off road and heavy equipment products are also available.

There are many different types of off road and heavy equipment products. Examples include aerial work platforms and lift tables, air tracks, agricultural tractors, articulated trucks and haulers, asphalt plants and pavers, backhoes and backhoe loaders, boomtrucks, bulldozers, cherry pickers, and cold planers. Off road and heavy equipment products also includes combat engineering vehicles such as modified tanks and mine excavators; compact excavators and crawler carriers; portable concrete batch plants for on-site production; construction and mining tractors; construction and mining trucks; and cranes and cure rigs. In addition, suppliers may provide dragline excavators, dredging equipment, drilling machines, wheel excavators, bagger or digger excavators, and feller bunchers.

Off road and heavy equipment products are used in both highway construction and agricultural production. Product types include forklifts and forklift trucks, Fresno scrapers, front shovels, trailer-mounted knuckleboom loaders, lowboys or trailers, and road graders. Roadwork equipment includes highway ten-yard rear dumpers; stiff or bottom dumpers, pup or belly train dumpers, and triple dumpers. Highway end dump and side dumps are also available. Pile drivers, pipe layers, compactors and tire compactors, soil reclaimers and soil stabilizers, and road headers are additional types of off road and heavy equipment products. Rollers, road rollers, and roller compactors are also available.

Types of off road and heavy equipment products include rotary tillers (rototillers, rotovators), scrapers, skidders, skid steer loaders, and skip loaders. Typically, a skidder, skid steer loader or skip loader (skippy) is used in logging applications. Off road and heavy equipment products may include slipform pavers, soil stabilizers, steam shovels, stompers, street sweepers, telescopic handlers, track harvesters, track loaders, track skidders, trenchers and trench-digging equipment, tunnel boring machines, and underground mining equipment. Some suppliers of offroad and heavy equipment products provide venturi mixers, vibratory compactors, water wagons, wheel dozers or soil compactors, wheel forwarders such as front loaders or integrated tool carriers, wheel skidders, wheel tractors or scrapers, and yarders.
