GlobalSpec Reaches New Milestones in 2006
Record-Setting Achievements Include Reaching 3 Million Registered Users and Growing e-Newsletter Circulation to 3.5 Million as Company Posts Revenue Growth of 48%
TROY, NY - (BUSINESS WIRE)- 1/18/07 – GlobalSpec (www.globalspec.com), leading specialized search engine, information resource and e-publishing company for the engineering, industrial and technical communities, today announced that it achieved record results in 2006, reinforcing GlobalSpec's position as the place for this audience to search for products and services, research companies, discover hard-to-find technical information, collaborate with peers and more.
During 2006, GlobalSpec revenues grew 48 percent over 2005. Also during 2006, the company exceeded three million registered users– a 50 percent year-over-year increase – and continues to add registered users at a rate of more than 20,000 per week. An August 2006 BPA independent audit concluded that GlobalSpec was surpassing the 3.8 million level in monthly visits. GlobalSpec's specification-based search technology (SpecSearch®) also experienced significant growth in 2006 - registered users now have the ability to search more than 153 million parts in 2 million product families from over 21,000 digitized catalogs by product specification.
For advertisers interested in reaching engineering, manufacturing, technical and industrial professionals, GlobalSpec launched a complete suite of targeted, product-centric e-newsletters. GlobalSpec's e-newsletters complement the company's SpecSearch and online directory services, both of which deliver intelligence-rich, actionable hard sales leads to its clients. Techs & Specs, GlobalSpec's flagship e-newsletter, reached a milestone circulation level of over one million engineering and manufacturing professionals in 2006. In all, GlobalSpec now publishes more than 55 e-newsletters with a combined circulation of 3.5 million. Additional user-focused products were also launched in 2006 - including CR4, an online community site for news and peer-to-peer discussion, and Engineering News, a breakthrough daily news service compiled from hundreds of sources across the Web.
GlobalSpec expanded its reach in 2006 through a variety of new and enhanced partnerships with publishers and publications including CMP Technology’s Electronics Group, Interference Technology and Machine Design. Additionally, content from CMP Technology’s Electronics Group's portfolio of Web sites has been indexed on GlobalSpec, making it discoverable among GlobalSpec’s registered user base.
"2006 was an outstanding year for GlobalSpec, one that allowed us to achieve new levels of financial performance, user and client satisfaction, product scale, and market leadership," said GlobalSpec Chairman and CEO Jeffrey M. Killeen. "Over the past decade, GlobalSpec has seen the Internet and online marketing become universally accepted and engaged by users and marketers alike. We have been at the forefront of this shift within the engineering, technical and industrial communities, remaining focused on providing them with must-have information services and specialized search engines that align with their workflow and increase their productivity.
