Fluid Bearings Move Spindles
 Fluid bearings have several benefits over common ball-bearings because there is no contact between moving surfaces. Water bearings offer distinct advantages in milling spindles, eliminating up to half of the moving parts. In aerospace, high spindle speed can combine with heavy cut depths to hog out aluminum aircraft components.

Testing Apparatus a Mechanical Engineering Landmark
The Split-Hopkinson Pressure Bar Apparatus, created in 1962 at the Southwest Research Institute, was named as a Historical Mechanical Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
