From Digi-Key — CUI Inc.'s V78XX series of switching regulators.
The V78XX series are designed to replace 78XX linear regulators with the objective of drop-in replacement without the need for a heatsink because the V78XX series features high efficiency, up to 96%, under all line conditions.
Built-in short-circuit and over-temperature protection ensure very rugged operation in many environments. Additionally, low ripple and noise performance make the parts useful in a wide range of applications.
