Type

   Your choices are...
Beam / Torpedo Level       A beam, box beam, I-beam, or contractors or carpenters' level consists of vials of electronic tilt sensors mounted in a long rectangular frame. The frames are typically made from laminated wood, brass bound wood, aluminum, or plastic. A torpedo level is a shorter version with slightly tapered ends. Box beam levels are used to access horizontal orientation (level) and vertical orientation (plumb).
Precision Box / Inspection Level       Precision frame or box levels are used for checking planarity on horizontal and vertical surfaces and shafts in machine tools and other equipment. Inspection levels typically have a square or box shaped frame. The square frames usually consists of a cast frame with precision ground surfaces with relief on the edges or faces. Some box levels also have shallow vee grooves to facilitate shaft inspection.
Circular / Bull's Eye Level       Circular or bull's eye levels use a disc shaped vial with a single bubble. By design, they provide cross or dual axis level sensing capability. Circular levels are commonly integrated or attached to machine tools, instruments, transits, and other equipment that must be operated in a level condition or plumb state.
Clinometer / Inclinometer       Clinometers or inclinometers can indicate the angular variation or inclination from horizontal. Both mechanical vial and electronic types of inclinometers are available.
Laser / Rotary Laser Level       Laser levels project a spot or indicator onto a surface that is level with the projecting laser level. Rotary laser level spins the laser diode to project a horizontal level line. Some laser levels can project a vertical plumb line.
Precision Machinist's Level       Machinist's levels are smaller and provide a higher degree of precision compared to the common carpenters' beam or torpedo levels. Machinist's levels usually have a main level vial as well as plumb and cross test vials. The main level vial is ground and graduated. Machinist's levels often have a central groove to facilitate inspection of shafts or piping.
Line / Pocket Level       Small levels usually with hooks that can be hung from a line or carried in a pocket. The line provides a horizontal or level reference.
Plumb Bob       Plumb bobs are attached to a line to provide a vertical or plumb reference.
Other       Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary level type.

Plumb Vial / Vertical Capability?       Levels with a vial orientated to facilitate checking of vertical inclination or plumbness.
Search Logic:      "Required" and "Must Not Have" criteria limit returned matches as specified. Products with optional attributes will be returned for either choice.
Cross Vial / Dual Axis Capability?       Levels having the ability to assess level or inclination along two axes. This capability is usually developed using two vials orientated perpendicular to each other.

Angular Resolution:       The resolution range of the angle to be measured.
Search Logic:      All matching products will have a value less than or equal to the specified value.
Length:       The length of the rule or blade of a square. The blade length is the longer, flat leg of a square. On most rules, the rulings extend the full length of the tool and the length is equal to the range.

Measurement Scale
   Display:
   Your choices are...
None (Nongraduated)       A gage that does not have a display or graduated scale. Fixed gages, squares, angle gages, or straight edges are available without a display.  These gages are used for comparative or Go / No-Go gaging and measurement transfer.  Electronic or optical measuring tools may be provided without a display and a used by attaching to a remote display.
Dial       Dial or dial indicating type displays use a pointer or needle mounted in a graduated, disc dial. The dial provides an indication of dimension or position around or from a zero reference point.
Digital Display       The display information is presented in alphanumeric form, generally using a lighted LCD panel.
Direct Reading Scale       A direct reading graduated scale has ruling or graduations engraved or printed onto a linear, disc, or drum surface that provide a direct indication of the dimension of a part, the inclination of a surface, or the angle between two surfaces.
Other       Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary display type.

Technology
   Measuring Technology
   Your choices are...
Electronic       Electronic gages use LVDT, capacitance, inductive, or other electronic probes to sense distance or displacement of a contact or stylus.
Mechanical       Mechanical gages use comparison or the physical movement and displacement of a gaging element (e.g., spindle, slide, stem) to determine the dimensions of a part or feature.
Optical / Laser       Gages that use optical, laser, infrared, or video based technology to measure dimensional features.
Vial / Spirit       Vials are used in some levels and consist of a glass tube (vial) filled with a bubble and liquid. The position of the bubble indicates inclination or plumbness. Some vials are ground and have graduated scales to determine the degrees of inclination from horizontal.
Other       Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary technology type.

   Materials
   Your choices are...
Aluminum       A ductile, lightweight metal that has good electrical and thermal conductivity, high reflectivity, and resistance to oxidation.
Brass / Bronze       Brass and bronze are copper based alloys strengthened with additions of tin, zinc and other alloying elements. Brass and bronze alloys are machinable and have good corrosion resistance.
