Physical Specifications
   Opening Size       Opening size is the actual clear opening or space between the inside edges of two parallel wires or the diameter of each hole in a perforated sheet. For rectangular openings, enter the opening width (smallest side of the rectangular opening) in the 'at least' field. Enter the opening length (longest side of the rectangular opening) in the 'no more than' field. The difference between mesh and opening size is how they are measured. Mesh is measured from the centers of the wires while opening size is the clear opening between the wires. A two-mesh cloth and a cloth with 1/2-inch (1/2") openings are similar. However, because mesh includes the wires in its measurement, two-mesh cloth has smaller openings than a cloth with an opening size of a 1/2-inch.

   Electroformed       Electroforming is a metal forming process that forms thin parts through the electroplating process. The part is produced by plating a metal skin onto a base form, known as a mandrel, which is removed after plating. This process differs from electroplating in that the plating is much thicker and can exist as a self-supporting structure when the mandrel is removed. 
   Expanded       Expanded metal plate and expanded plastic film are made by shearing the material in a press, so that the metal stretches, leaving diamond-shaped voids surrounded by interlinked bars of the original material. The most common method of manufacture is to simultaneously slit and stretch the material with one motion. 
   Extruded       Extrusion is a high volume manufacturing process in which raw material is melted and formed into a continuous profile. The process is usually performed with a plastic or polymeric material.

   Photochemically Etched       Photochemical etching, also known as chemical milling, is the process of using acids, bases, or other chemicals to dissolve materials such as metals to form a specific shape or part. 
   Woven / Braided       Weaving is a process where yarns or threads are interlaced to form a fabric or cloth. The threads which run lengthways are called the warp, and the threads which run across from side to side are the weft or filling. 
   Welded       Welding is a process that joins materials, usually metals or thermoplastics, by causing coalescence. This is often done by melting the workpieces.

   Metal

   Aluminum       Aluminum is a bluish, silver-white, malleable, ductile, light, trivalent metallic element that has good electrical and thermal conductivity, high reflectivity, and resistance to oxidation. 
   Copper / Brass / Bronze       Copper is a common reddish, metallic element that is ductile, malleable, and is one of the best conductors of heat and electricity. It is alloyed with zinc and tin (or similar metals) to produce brass and bronze, respectively, which are tougher and more corrosion resistant. 
   Molybdenum       Molybdenum is a refractory metal with a very high melting point and a relatively high density. Molybdenum and molybdenum alloys are used to fabricate PVD evaporation crucibles, electrodes, electrical contacts, and other high temperature components.  
   Nickel / Nickel Alloys       Nickel and nickel alloys are non-ferrous metals with high strength and toughness, excellent corrosion resistance, and superior elevated temperature properties. Nickel can also be magnetized. Nickel's properties result in the use of nickel alloys in jet engine super-alloy components, corrosion resistant chemical process equipment (valves, piping, and pumps), magnets and electrical resistance alloys, and heating elements. Nickel is also a useful alloying element in stainless, tool, maraging, and other alloy steels. 
   Stainless Steel       Stainless steel is chemical and corrosion resistant and can have relatively high-pressure ratings. Many different grades of stainless steel are used in wire cloth. 
   Steel       Steel is a commercial iron that contains carbon in any amount up to about 1.7 percent as an essential alloying constituent. It is malleable when under suitable conditions, and is distinguished from cast iron by its malleability and lower carbon content.   Wire cloth is often woven from steel due to its relatively low cost, high tensile strength, and ductility. Low carbon steel is often the choice when the cloth will not be in contact with corrosive or abrasive fluids. Steel may be galvanized, tinned, plated, painted, or coated. 
   Titanium       Titanium and its alloys are extremely lightweight and are widely used in the aircraft and aerospace industry. It has an excellent high strength-to-weight ratio especially in moderate temperature ranges (300°F to 700°F). In natural environments, a protective oxide film forms which enhances its corrosion resistance. Titanium wire cloth is also used in medical applications for implants in artificial joints. 
   Tungsten       Tungsten has good strength in a protective atmosphere up to 5000°F. As is true with other refractory metals, tungsten exhibits good corrosion resistance qualities.
