   Molding Process
   Your choices are...
Cast Molding       Cast molding is a process in which the liquid material is poured into an open mold.
Compression Molding       Compression molding presses a slug of silicone between two heated mold-halves. Generally, this is done with vertical presses instead of with horizontal presses, machines which are used for injection molding and blow molding. With compression molding, parts are air-cooled after formation. Prices both for tooling and part pieces are moderate.
Dip Molding       Dip molding is similar to hot dip coating, a process in which the finished product is the fused plastisol stripped from the dipped mold. Dip molding is used to produce such parts as gloves, grips, and protective caps.
Injection Molding       Injection molding is a process which supplies the rubber to the injection machine's barrel-and-nozzle assembly on a continual basis. The rubber is a high-consistency silicone rubber (HCR) known as gum stock.
Liquid Injection Molding (LIM)       Liquid injection molding (LIM) uses a high-viscosity liquid which comes in two parts: Part A and Part B. Both are injected into a heated mold. Liquid injection silicone molding is ideal where contamination is a problem, or where high volumes are required. The medical industry prefers liquid injection silicone molding.
Reaction Injection Molding (RIM)       Reaction injection molding (RIM) is a process in which two or more reactive chemicals are mixed at high speed as they are injected into a mold. RIM is a low-temperature process which typically takes under a minute, including mixing, curing, and demolding.
Rotational Molding       Rotational molding fills hollow molds with silicone material and secures them to pipe-like spokes which extend from a central hub. The molds rotate or tumble on separate axes at once. The hub swings the entire mold into an enclosed furnace room that causes the powder to melt and stick to the insides of the tools. With the molds still tumbling slowly, the tools swing into a cooling room where sprayed water causes the silicone to harden into a hollow part. Rotational molding is also known as rotomolding. Low tooling costs and high piece prices are typical of this process. Cycle times average around 40 - 45 minutes.
Transfer Molding       In transfer molding, the two mold halves are clamped together and silicone is forced by pressure into the mold. A chamber or pot, usually at the top of the mould, is placed in a press with the assembly. The press applies pressure to a piston-Ike plug in the open end of the pot, clamping the halves of the mold together and forcing the silicone to flow through one or more sprues into the heated mold.
Other       Other, unlisted, or proprietary molding process.

Services
   Services
   Your choices are...
Clean Room Molding       Clean room molding describes a molding process that takes place within a certified cleanroom.
Insert Molding       Supplier capable of producing parts that require molded in inserts, typically metallic.
Large Part Molding       Supplier has capabilities to mold large parts.
Micro Molding       Micro molding serves a variety of industries including medical, automotive, and consumer electronics by utilizing specialty miniature molding machines to produce very small (typically <2 grams) parts.
Tool / Mold Making       Suppliers have in-house expertise and a tool shop to create molding / tooling necessary for production.
Two-shot Injection Molding       Only applicable to Injection Molding, it produces a part with two different raw materials or colors in a single operation. The machine has two injection units: one vertical and one horizontal. By using a rotating mold, the machine automatically produces a substrate of one resin or color and overmolds the part with the second resin or color.
Prototype       Supplier can create prototypes to lend substance to ideas or investigate true manufacturing costs.
Low Volume Production       Supplier is capable of performing low volume production runs; typically means a production run time of less than one week.
High Volume Production       Supplier is capable of performing high volume production runs; typically means a production run time of over one week.
Assembly Services       Supplier provides secondary operations and assembly services such as electro-mechanical assemblies, ultrasonic and heat welding, printing, painting, bonding, and machining.
Bonding       Supplier has capabilities to bond the molded material to metals, wood,  plastics, or other substrates.
Design Assistance       With design assistance, suppliers can assist with concepts, manufacturing costs, manufacturing techniques and material considerations. Suppliers may also be able to assist in upgrading or redesigning, re-evaluating or modernizing existing products to increase performance and/or reduce manufacturing costs. Some suppliers offer material sourcing and CAD modeling as well.
Graphics       Supplier can mold-in or mold-on graphics, such as company logos, warning labels, and instructions.  Mold-in graphics is a method of incorporating a decal into a molded part.   The decal is applied to the mold surface and becomes integral to the molded component.  Mold-on graphics can be applied after the part is molded.
Just-In-Time Capability       Supplier has Just-In-Time manufacturing capability of parts in order to reduce need for inventory maintenance.
Machining       Machining is the removal of material through milling, turning, drilling, and other processes.
Packaging / Shipping       Supplier provides packaging and shipping capabilities including bulk shipment to facility for further processing or final packaging and shipping of product or device directly to the individual end customer.
Other       Other, unlisted, or proprietary service.
