   Your choices are...
Anodizing       Anodizing is a galvanic finishing process well-suited to aluminum and its alloys. Anodized finishes provide hardness for wear applications and offer corrosion-resistant properties. They are available in a wide range of colors.
Black Oxide       Black oxide coatings are an anti-corrosion treatment for a variety of steels.
CNC Machining       Computer numerically controlled (CNC) machining centers are used to perform very precise machining operations such as turning, milling, and boring.
CNC / Robotic Welding       Suppliers offer CNC or robotic welding capabilities.
Electroplating       Electroplating is a finishing process used with materials such as brass, bronze, and copper.  A wide variety of colors and textures can be achieved.
Coiling / Spring Making       Suppliers have coiling or spring-making capabilities.
Drilling / Tapping       Drilling, tapping, threading, and associated or similar operations.
Grinding       Grinding capability can provide very smooth and precise material finishes, and can be used to finish high-hardness wear surfaces.
Heat Treating / Stress Relieving       Broad category of processes used to treat metals such as annealing, passivation, hardening, etc.  Stress relieving may be important to relieve residual stresses imposed during the stamping process.
Mesh Welding       Suppliers can weld mesh as part of a wire assembly.
Painting / Powder Coating       Application of decorative and/or protective finishes; coatings are typically thicker than plating or anodizing operations.
Spot Welding       Suppliers can spot-weld wire assemblies.
Sheet Metal Fabrication       Suppliers can fabricate sheet metal for a wire assembly.
Tool Making       Suppliers can design and produce tools and/or tooling.
Wire Forming       Suppliers perform wire forming, the stamping of wire into fabricated shapes for a wire assembly.
Tubing Fabrication       Suppliers can fabricate tubes for wire assemblies.
Water / Abrasive Jet Cutting       Water jets and water abrasive jets rely on highly pressurized water (20,000 - 60,000 psi) flowing through a nozzle or "jewel" approximately 0.010" in diameter.  Advantages include almost no material heating during cutting, low side loads, and ability to achieve complex shapes and tight inside radii. Low fixturing costs and fast setup and programming times make this process very suitable for prototypes or short runs.  It is most widely used for two-dimensional cutting; three-dimensional machining is possible in specialty applications. Pure water jets are typically used to cut very soft material such as fabrics or rubber; metals usually require abrasives in the stream.  "Water Jet" is a generic term that is sometimes used to cover both processes.
   Other       Other unlisted secondary operations.

Materials
Material selection considerations include tensile or impact strength, magnetic and electric properties, and corrosion resistance.  Material flow during the stamping or forming process is another significant consideration when deep draws or especially thin or thick parts are desired.
   Your choices are...
Ferrous Metals       Broad category of metals for which iron is the primary constituent, including carbon and cold-rolled steels, stainless steel, etc.
Nonferrous Metals       Metals and metal alloys such as brass, copper, aluminum, and nickel and their alloys.  Bronze, Inconel, Monel and other specialty alloys fall into this category.
Exotic Metals and Alloys       Metals and their alloys with special properties and applications; include such materials as beryllium copper, beryllium nickel, niobium, tantalum, and titanium.
Precious Metals       Specialty stamping of precious metals such as gold, silver, platinum, etc.  Industrial applications include electronic connection terminals; other applications include gold foil stamping for the printing industry and other specialty services.
Plastic       Broad category including all thermoplastic materials and their stamping or die-cutting.
Other       Other unlisted or unusual application-specific materials.  These may include such things as stampings of cork, fiber sheeting, etc.

Certification / Quality Requirements
   Certification / Quality Requirements
   Your choices are...
AS 9000       AS 9000 defines quality management system (QMS) requirements for suppliers to the aerospace industry. It was developed by major aerospace manufacturers and published by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). AS 9000 is based on ISO 9001, but includes over 80 additional requirements for the aerospace industry.
AS 9100       AS 9100 is an expanded, international version of AS 9000, a standard which defines quality system requirements for suppliers to the aerospace industry. AS 9100 was developed by major aerospace manufactures in conjunction with the ISO Aerospace Technical Committee (TC) 20, and published by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
QS-9000       QS-9000 is a quality standard for suppliers of DaimlerChrysler Corporation, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors Corporation. QS-9000 is based on the 1994 edition of ISO 9001, but contains additional requirements that are particular to the automotive industry. Specifically, QS-9000 applies to suppliers of production materials, production and service parts, heat treating, painting and plating and other finishing services.
ISO 9001:2000       ISO 9001:2000, a part of the larger ISO 9000 standard, contains the actual requirements with which an organization needs to comply to become certified. ISO 9001:2000 replaces the ISO 9001:1994 quality standard.
ISO 13485:2003       ISO 13485:2003 specifies quality management system (QMS) requirements for organizations that need to demonstrate their ability to provide medical devices and related services that consistently meet applicable customer and regulatory requirements. ISO 13485:2003 contains specific requirements for medical devices and excludes non-applicable requirements from ISO 9001. Consequently, an organization with a QMS that conforms to ISO 13485:2003 cannot claim to conformity to ISO 9001 unless the QMS meets all of ISO 9001’s requirements.
ISO 14001       ISO 14000 provides an internationally recognized framework for environmental management, measurement, evaluation and auditing. ISO 14000 does not prescribe environmental performance targets, but provides organizations with the tools to assess and control the impact of their activities, products or services on the environment. ISO 14001:1996, a part of the larger ISO 14000 standard, contains the actual requirements with which an organization needs to comply in order to become certified.
