The Pneumatic Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation (NYSE:PH) introduces the new Isys line of plug-in pneumatic valves. This new, full-featured pneumatic valve line, with the added benefit of ISO compliance, uses ISO 15407 standards as its foundation. Parker’s Isys line leapfrogs proprietary valves by featuring a smaller footprint, a smaller valve size, and the ability to install 18mm and 26mm size valves in the same manifold – a process referred to as “jump sizing.” Two new valve sizes are included in the Isys family: ISO 15407 18mm and 26mm, 0.60 and 1.1 Cv respectively. Both of these sizes are available in 15407-2 (Body-to-Base Plug-in). The Isys line also features Parker’s redesigned ISO 5599-2 and ISO 5599-1 (DIN, Automotive) valve sizes 1, 2, and 3. Flow ranges in the Isys family are available from 0.6 to 6.0 Cv. This aggressive new introduction represents a paradigm shift for plug-in pneumatic valves. ISO specifications continue to grow as global customers demand standardization. For years, hydraulic valves have met standards and have been interchangeable; now ISO pneumatic cylinders are growing in popularity for the same reasons. “Customers compete in global markets and need products manufactured to global standards,” John Garbarino, Parker’ valve product manager, explains. “End users and OEMs understand that using products that meet global standards improves quality and offers them flexibility.” Parker Hannifin has responded to this market demand with Isys, a comprehensive family of pneumatic valves that conform to ISO dimensional and electrical standards, resulting in interchangeable components. The new Isys family replaces former Parker Hannifin “F” Series and “H” Series pneumatic valves. The company’s F3 (.75 Cv) is replaced by Isys 18mm valves (0.60 Cv), which are significantly smaller, provide collective wiring, and are competitively priced with other 0.5 valves – both proprietary and ISO. These valves are properly sized for 2.5” bore cylinders and down. Isys 18 mm and Isys 26mm specifications include: • Flow: 0.6 (18mm) 1.1 (26mm) Cv; • Operating pressure: vacuum to 145 psi; • MOP: 30 psi; • Operating temperature: 5F to 120F; • Power: 0.80 watt; • Width: 18mm and 26mm. An F3 valve can also be replaced with an Isys 26mm (1.1 Cv) valve by installing a transition plate to F3 manifolds. Depending upon the application, Parker’s F5 (1.55 Cv) can be replaced with either the Isys 26mm or the redesigned ISO 5599 size 1. These valves are properly sized for cylinders with under a 4” bore. Parker F5, F6 (3.60 Cv) and F7 (6.60 Cv) valves can be replaced with Isys sizes 1, 2, and 3 with a fifth hole in the new ISO valve body. Parker Isys 18mm and 26mm manifolds are available in two-station multiples that decrease the number of base-to-base electrical and pneumatic connections, reducing the opportunities for pneumatic leaks and electrical misconnections. Cylinder ports are available with NPT and BSPP. Manifold bases are available with bottom porting. IsysNet is the company’s new network bus system, with a common platform, that is compatible with all Isys ISO valves. IsysNet offers customers preferred connectivity with EtherNet/IP and ControlNet™. Preferred connectivity reduces integration and trouble shooting time because Allen Bradley Control Logix software immediately recognizes the Isys node. Profibus and DeviceNet™ are also available. The communication modules are NEMA 4 (IP65) protected. Implementing a standard interface to communicate and exchange data provides users around the world with interchangeable physical hardware and the software for communication between pneumatic and electronic valve components in fluid power control applications.
