Kinetek companies, Euclid Universal and Merkle-Korff Industries, are highly regarded manufacturers of gearmotors. Merkle-Korff invented the first gearmotor early in the 1920s when its founder mounted a small electric motor to a miniature speed reducer.

Euclid Universal's line of power transmission products includes transaxles, wheel motors, AC gearmotors and DC gearmotors from 1/20 hp through 20 hp with gearboxes up to 20,000 lb/in. Euclid also designs custom gear products and open gearing.

Celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2011, Merkle-Korff Industries manufactures a range of products, including PMDC motors & gearmotors to 120 watt output; brushless DC motors & gearmotors to 50 watt output; and sub-fractional AC gearmotors.
