About Velmex, Inc.

Business Type: Manufacturer, Distributor

VELMEX was incorporated in 1967 in Bloomfield, N.Y. This location is the home of today's modern manufacturing facility. The original product was the UNISLIDE® manual operated dovetail slide. Since that time, many enhancements and new positioning devices have been developed by Velmex:

  • Rapid Advance models
  • Slide cross sections from 1.5 to 9 inches wide and 90 inches long
  • Velmex, Inc.Motor Driven UniSlides
  • Elevating Tables
  • Rotary Tables
  • Stepping Motor Controllers
  • UniSlide friction reduction of more than 40%
  • Lead screws in metric and inch pitches from 0.025" to 1.000" advance/ revolution
  • UniSlide Slider with gib adjustments for increasing preload and wear compensation
  • Linear encoder option to achieve the maximum accuracy and resolution
  • Development of the revolutionary BISLIDE® Linear Positioning System

Velmex, Inc.The UNISLIDE and BISLIDE assembly has the following advantages over ball and roller element positioners:

  • Lighter weight with high strength aluminum alloys
  • More compact than ball screw driven stages
  • Resistant to impact loads
  • Corrosion resistant
  • Will operate without lubrication
  • Some models can be supplied totally nonferrous
  • Fewer parts
  • Lower cost

Compared to steel or cast iron dovetail slides that have metal sliding on metal, the UNISLIDE and BISLIDE are lighter, and have much lower friction. UNISLIDEs and BISLIDEs have a thin layer of a Teflon compounded material bonded to the sliding element that minimizes friction and wear, especially when operating without lubricants.
