From Mountain Optech, Inc.'s website:
Mountain Optech, Inc. (MOI), a subsidiary of Phillips Service Industries, Inc., was founded in 1985 with a vision of the future of rugged mass storage that helped us pioneer the concept of rugged Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products. From the early years supplying SEL-2 WORM Optical Storage Systems to the U.S. Department of Defense, to military-grade drives for Tornado aircraft of the U.K. Royal Aircraft Establishment, to Solid State Memory on F-16 radar systems, Mountain Optech drives have performed flawlessly in many diverse applications. Our rugged systems are at work in environments such as:
To meet performance objectives, commercial drives are modified to meet military and rugged commercial platform standards, incorporating active heaters, forced air cooling, isolation systems, EMI/EMC shielding, extended temperature range control firmware and conformal coating - features engineered by MOI to give our drives superior performance in rugged environments.
Mountain Optech's value-added engineering clearly separates our products and services from the competition. In pursuing the goal of progressively escalating the state-of-the-art, our teams of experts have accumulated a wealth of knowledge and equipment, and are available for consultation on a myriad of environmental and severe use testing. We have the facilities and talent to take an idea from initial concept all the way through final production.
