Shadin Avionics is a global leader in the design and manufacturing of innovative avionics for military, aerospace, commercial, business and general aviation. With over 30 years of history in electronic and software solutions, Shadin is recognized for meeting the demanding avionics requirements of the latest generation of aircraft, while at the same time enabling the upgrade and sustainment of existing fleets. Shadin has developed over 400 products, with approximately 100 still in production, in both fixed-wing and rotorcraft markets including aircraft and avionics OEMs and direct government customers.
Shadin’s business can be divided into three segments. The Flight Performance Systems (FPS) include solutions on aircraft that collect, process and convey valuable information used to increase the performance of the pilot and aircraft while increasing overall flight safety. FPS solutions include Fuel Management Systems, Engine Management and Trend Monitoring Systems, Altitude Management Systems and Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) certifiable Air Data Computers. The TrendBox family of products, including the TrendBox200, is the latest addition to Shadin’s portfolio and, leveraging Shadin’s experience in developing data collection solutions and manufacturing expertise, begins to meet the growing demand for aircraft “health” data.
Shadin’s Avionics Interface Systems (AIS) provide unique data management solutions that enable seamless communication of data over dissimilar protocols or collect and concentrate data for easy utilization by on-board displays.
AIS solutions include Engine Data Concentrators and many configurations of data converters for digital, analog, synchro, Ethernet and wireless protocols. Shadin’s new AIS Configurable Converter Platform (CCP) technology enables unique converter solution development in a fraction of the cost and time of traditional solutions.
Finally, Shadin’s Programs & Custom Solutions business enables the creation of custom solutions for specific customer applications. Vast technical experience, program management capabilities and manufacturing ability make Shadin an ideal supplier to meet unique avionic needs.
Shadin was founded as Shadin Company, Inc. in 1978. The company became Shadin LP, doing business as Shadin Avionics, after an acquisition in November, 2004 by The Wright Group (TWG), a privately held company based in Dallas, Texas. Today, Shadin’s leadership team has over 100 years of aerospace industry experience. The company falls under the U.S. government Small Business classification and is located in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. In addition to development and manufacturing capabilities, Shadin operates a FAA Part 145 Repair Station to provide ongoing support for all its products. On April 30th, 2008 Shadin received AS9100 certification and the company utilizes Lean and Six-Sigma techniques to maximize quality and operational execution. Shadin's engineering team has been responsible for numerous products developed to RTCA DO-178B and DO-254 Level A standards.
