Welcome to Kistler Instrument Corporation, your source for measuring force, pressure, acceleration, torque and strain. Kistler manufactures piezoelectric, piezoresistive, strain gage and capacitive sensors as well as electronics, process monitors, software, calibration equipment and provides calibration services.
Kistler Instrument is the U. S. unit of the Kistler Group, established in 1957, of Winterthur, Switzerland . The Kistler Group holds over 100 instrumentation patents and additionally manufactures unique, instrumentation grade crystalline materials.
Kistler Instrument was the first piezoelectric sensor manufacturer in the U.S. to be granted ISO 9001 in August of 1994 and subsequently ISO 17025.
Major areas of applications include engine and vehicle dynamics developmental testing, vehicular crash testing, vehicular NVH evaluations, plastics injection molding process monitoring, manufacturing and assembly process control, biomechanics R & D studies, aircraft/aerospace R & D, and general test and measurement. Many applications are in metal forming and cutting as well as vibration studies of materials and structures. Examples of specialized applications include weigh-in-motion highway sensors and high pressure sensors for gun/cannon barrel ballistics measurements. Instrument calibration service is also performed at the Amherst, New York headquarters and factory.
Application consultation and technical assistance for standard products and engineered/OEM sensors is available. Sensors to complete instrumentation systems are based on precise, high performance instruments able to perform from cryogenic to ballistics environments. Most well known for piezoelectric sensors, Kistler has recently expanded its torque sensor line and offers specialized instrumentation for production yield improvement. Software products enable parameter visualization in biomechanics, injection molding, assembly process monitoring and enable data extraction for manufacturing engineering improvements. A wide line of convenience items including cables, adapters, trouble shooting instrumentation, mounting accessories and special mounting tools are offered. Whether general purpose or highly specialized, Kistler instrumentation offers a better way to measure, analyze and innovate.
