Advanced Machine Design with Symbolic Modeling and Simulation Technology

A new generation of engineering modeling and simulation technology is emerging to speed up the development of sophisticated models for complex machines. Tools such as MapleSim from Maplesoft deploy advanced symbolic computation technology to simplify the complexity arising from non-linear, multi-domain, and digital control applications (including HIL simulation). This webinar presents the latest computational techniques for accelerating model development while increasing model fidelity and simulation performance. Based on the MapleSim platform, the presentation will inform attendees about fundamental techniques using this approach and advantages of the approach as compared to conventional software tools. Models developed with these techniques offer greater fidelity, with less development effort, and substantially faster real-time execution speed. In addition, advanced analytical techniques such as inverse kinematics, and parametric optimization are more readily supported through this framework.

The speaker is one of the most accomplished experts in this new generation of modeling technique. He will present real-world case studies drawn from a variety of industries including auto, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing.

Tim Vrablik, Manager, MapleSim Development, Maplesoft

Tim Vrablik is a graduate of the University of Windsor where he studied Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics. He has been with Maplesoft since 2008 where his focus has been on the use of Maple and MapleSim in research and design. Tim has worked as both a Maplesoft Technical Engineer and Maplesoft Applications Engineer before moving into his current role as MapleSim Development Manager.

Dr. Orang Vahid, Senior Modeling Engineer, Maplesoft

Dr. Vahid holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Waterloo. He has over 10 years of experience in industry covering advanced dynamical systems, friction-induced vibration and control, automotive noise and vibration, and mechanical engineering design. He is a frequent invited speaker and has published numerous papers on various topics in engineering design.
