When would I use a mechanical shaker collector? It is used when periodic shutdown is possible for cleaning the bags. During normal operation, when the magnehelic gauge reaches a 6" pressure drop, it is time to shut down the baghouse and shake the bags. A silo filling operation with a standard tank truck takes about 45 minutes to complete. At the end of this cycle the bags need to be cleaned. (read more) -

What is the efficiency of a dust collector? A properly sized dust collector is 99.99% efficient by weight (of inlet loading) down to one micron. This means if the dust collector loading is 100 pounds per hour, the bags will capture 99.99 pounds of the dust that is over one micron. This is a minimum efficiency figure.
