Air Cleaners Information Air cleaners or purifiers can be portable, table-top devices used in individual rooms or larger systems that require installation with an existing HVAC, furnace, or air conditioning system. Air cleaners and purifiers are differentiated by several parameters, including the technology used to filter the air, the size of particle the cleaner is capable of removing, the square-footage covered, maintenance and energy costs, and physical size.   Air cleaners for both...

Q:
What new technologies are influencing air cleaner design?
12 answers
Answers:
My personal opinion is; Filter Designs control the future of air filtration units /systems. For ultra clean air---combination static collection/air shaping/pushing particles through enclosed system with periodic wash down and removal of collected particles. No fiber filter is required. A proper charcoal filter can be used to remove gases. Proper design removes Bacteria,Viruses,Smoke,Mold Spores without a filter. Down to ONE NANO = Green Building and LEED. Very Low Maintenance- Better performance than standard HEPA Filters. Can be used in existing clean room and will remove a surprising additional amount of particles for ultra clean. Filter waste eliminated.

Q:
From your perspective, which companies are creating the most innovative air cleaners?
11 answers
Answers:
For industrial cleaning purposes, depending on what type of cleaning you require (e.g.; dust removal, gas removal, odor removal, or even fine particle removal for electronic and hospital applications) there are various companies that we work with. Purafil USA is good in gas/odor filtration and corrosion control. Flanders/Camfil-Farr etc. are good air cleaning companies when one require good particulate filtration. For heavy odor control for environmental purposes in treatment plants etc., there are companies like, Violia, Du-All etc.

IVEC Systems controls improve the performance of all brands of process ventilation equipment while they save energy and reduce cost of operation. Filter-1 with their HydroTron series, their ambient cartridge dust collectors and "sonic rapper" cleaning system. Amtech, Airflow Systems, and Plymovent have great engineering advantages as well.

Q:
What would your design or feature "wish list" be for these products?
10 answers
Answers:
Automatic air conditioning works: ie, in tissue culture plants I need the temperature in the rooms for example, growth in the range 25 - +1. Therefore I need an air conditioner that is shifting from heating to cooling automatically to maintain the temperature in summer and winter. The majority of air conditioning when power outage and back do not work and you need a manual restart. While I need to restore the operating automatically without the presence of external conductor. Note that the model only in Egypt that you restart automatically when the power is and without Conductor is Carrier. I need an air conditioner does not consume electricity and sterilizes the air.

Applications and UseTop

Q:
Please share with us any “non-standard” applications that air cleaners have been used for.
5 answers
Answers:
This is a tough question to answer because there are so many "non-standard" applications. A better way to look at things these days is how are applications being addressed better. How is the equipment protecting workers better? How is it enabling the operators to live healthier lives without interfering with their ability to do their work? Is it protecting the environment better, providing better cleaning, providing better performance, operating more economically, operating more efficiently, and etc. These are the important questions that should be considered for all new installations or upgrades.

Q:
Is there any advice you want to share with users to help them avoid common errors in selection or usage of air cleaners?
8 answers
Answers:
Selecting the proper type of air cleaner, sizing it properly and applying it properly will help avoid problems. There are good reasons manufacturers have distribution networks and why they rely heavily on them to establish and maintain long term relationships. Buy from an established, reputable entity who will be there when questions arise or service is required. It will protect your investment.
~Doug Y, Marketing/Sales, New Berlin, WI
Consider: the type of material being extracted physical form e.g dust, fume, gas etc if a particle then size and shape density of the material volume produced type of source e.g. point or diffuse source moisture content and temperature of material other control measures
