I've used a regulator to provide low pressure (3-5 psig) GN2 to back fill the vacuum jacketed annulus of a flex hose that was being placed into long term storage.

Many, system failure in the downstream side of regulation system. There will be tremendous losses in the usage systems if regulator system fails. Suppose the back pressure system fails in boilers, we can't imagine catastrophe.

Yes, often customers didn't realize what would happen to a regulator in case of lost charge, or loss of function. Fail open, closed or freeze should be important information to demand from suppliers.

Be careful in accepting advertised Cv capacities which are most often exaggerated and can result in mismatching equipment. Specsmanship is often a problem in that it misleads customer to think that an advertised Cv that's larger than anothers' indicates superior or inferior equipment.
