The base of load cell is strain gauge and and stress is measured for different uses. Basic types are compression, S type, Axial, and commonly used in weighing bridges, weighing scales, bridges, hoopers, testing equipments to monitor tensile or compression strength of materials and daily life instruments.

Is there any advice you want to share with users to help them avoid common errors in selection or usage of load cells?

Synchronizing with the indicator or data acquisition system, most data acquisition systems accept 120 350 ohm full bridge and half bridge load cells, go for that to avoid synchronizing problem. VW technology is very expensive, strain gauge technology is very cheap and has universal acceptance.

Shop several vendors and compare pricing. There are many suppliers out there and you can usually find a better price if you just shop around and let each supplier know that you are looking at various options.

Japanese load cells are cheap and highest in accuracy. Don't go to purchase load cells who are not manufacturing but selling Chinese load cells with American or Italian brand names.
