While on Unit Training Assembly last month, I performed an Internal Audit on AFI21-202-Munitions for my Maintenance Chief. He utilized my DoD Civilian Certification to assist his staff in preparing for an upcoming inspection. I located 16 pages of items not being properly maintained. He will implement corrective action allowing maintainers significant time to review and correct the findings. The opportunity was a great learning experience for me.

During inspection, one of the client representatives insists that the inspected item is rejected, however upon showing him the code and allowable tolerance, he changes his mind and agrees with me that it is acceptable.

At times, codes, standards & regulations have different interpretation. Hence Specification shall clearly mention the codes, Standards or regulations that have to be followed.

Research your profession, stay current on technologies. Join sites such as GlobalSpec, ISO, ASTM, ASQ, ASME. These organizations offer a wealth of information; subject matter experts, Free Webinars, and sometimes a free copy of their updates on codes, standards and regulations.

Since there is the problem of interoperability among different vendors, it is advisable to maintain the same line of products from the same producers.
