The moisture content of mine atmospheric and coal seam gas emissions is extremely important given most composition are measured on a dry basis. A wrong moisture measurement can mean overpayment of emission taxes by significant amounts.

Computing water% in fluegas should make calculations of stackgas losses more accurate. Also, I think it can yield an indication of fuel moisture variations. This might improve fire control.

Many. NZ has a major leaky home issue affecting 40,000 homes. "Experts" taking timber framing readings through claddings regularly make incorrect calls when too close to metal fixings ( false positives) or fail to identify badly decayed material that dries quickly ( false negatives). Result affects estimates by $100,000s.

The process of obtaining samples by a consistent and easily repeatable method can present the most aggravating issues. Once the meter is installed, it should be very easy for a production worker with minimal training to use every day.

Make sure the meter can deliver all the desired results to your Historian or other software without human intervention, eg without having to re-type information from a printout or display. Make sure samples can be clearly identified to the Historian with clear and simple procedures that avoid or eliminate operator errors.
