What are some of the applications you have used three phase uninterruptible power supplies for?

I would like to use a three-phase UPS to synchronize the switching between the power of the grid and the power of the hybrid system (solar panels and wind turbine slow rotation system batteries). At low levels of energy in batteries, devices are switched to the mains electricity. Electrical Equipment Conveyor type AC motors, lighting, control systems, etc. The devices are on the production hall and I need to use the continuous power to all devices. Switching will take place over no more than 50-70 milliseconds, maximum power of all devices is 20 kilowatts.

Do you know of any disastrous mistakes that occurred due to the incorrect usage of three phase uninterruptible power supplies?

Answers:
If cable size of battery & input/output side is not perfect or of poor quality then UPS may be damaged heavily. Battery fuse or MCB on + & - side should there (both), as if in any case battery draws more current, fuse must be blown off to protect battery else battery will be damaged. No loose connection is allowed. Due to heavy current flow, disaster may happen.

As such no. But battery faults and fire from battery observed. Some of the old generation UPS system pollute source with high THDI and low PF which affects performance of transformer and other connected loads.

Sometimes people do not switch off inverter of the UPS while switching to maintenance mode, this leads to great problems as both raw power as well as inverter power get shortened.

High Efficiency UPS systems with less foot print and low operating cost. ITHD must be less than 3% with unity PF at input of UPS. Most importantly, as the name suggests, it should be uninterruptible, i.e reliable.

When you buy the three phase UPS, check the UPS specification and whether your load is considered inductive, capacitive or resistive. Efficiency of 50% Load and 100% load of UPS Protection features inbuilt in system. Appropriate rating gives system to calculate load and finalize.

Look for the highest possible reliability. Everything else is secondary. Although more expensive and less efficient, soma applications deserve a UPS with an output isolation transformer.

Full commissioning effort with power quality measurement is a must when starting a UPS. Manufacturer's claimed performance standards should always be validated, especially for batteries.

Is there any advice you want to share with users to help them avoid common errors in selection or usage of three phase uninterruptible power supplies?

COMPRESSOR has very high initial torque almost 10 times than rated & hence during battery operation, UPS will get tripped. So capacity of UPS will require very high capacity. Heater load will be beneficial, as it will improve your power factor. UPS should at least give you 150% load capacity for 10 seconds, so that for any initial torque it does not get tripped . It must have an isolation transformer at output side else IGBT will be blown off frequently. For industrial usage, SCR based rectifier will be highly reliable compared to IGBT based rectifier. As IGBT is a highly switchable & sensitive device & hence tends to fail frequently.

While selecting the UPS they must be aware about type of load they are going to put on prospective UPS, whether it is inductive load or low inrush current load. If they are buying for inductive load they should prefer isolation transformer technology, or for it load they can opt high frequency technology.

When supplying motor loads make sure your UPS is able to handle back feed from load. Make sure you have a solid neutral, both at by pass as well as normal operation.
