High performance liquid chromatographs (HPLC) use a liquid mobile phase to separate the components of a mixture. The components are dissolved in a solvent and forced to flow through a chromatographic column under high pressure. In the column, the mixture is resolved into its components. The components flow through a detector and a chromatogram is generated. Most high performance liquid chromatographs (HPLC) use high-pressure pumps to force solvents through packed stationary beds. Q:
Is there any advice you want to share with users to help them avoid common errors in selection or usage of high performance liquid chromatographs (HPLC)?
5 answers
Answers:
One should understand the configuration of HPLC being asked for and analysis types to be performed on the machine. Similarly election of column chemistries also play important role in the success of any HPLC system. It is always good to use universal and selective detector in combination (e.g UV and RI detector) for any method development activities.
~Vivekanand K, Research & Development, Faridabad, India
