Q:
Do you know of any disastrous mistakes that occurred due to the incorrect usage of compressed air dryers?
17 answers
Answers:
Dryer faults due to temperature, not over sizing to compensate for high ambient (what works in the spring doesn't mean it will work in the dog days of summer). Moisture from a failed system or undersized can lead to expensive plant repairs, product recall or failure.
~Gregory S, Sales Engineer and Energy Auditor, Fresno, CA
When replacing a refrigerated dryer with a regenerative unit in an existing system, people have to be careful that their purge loss does not render their compressor to be too small.
~David B., Marketing/Sales, Sylvania, OH
Pitting in the piping causing huge money going to waste in the form of Air Leakages, increased maintenance and failure of instrumentation.
~Syed Aoun A, Engineer, Lahore, Pakistan
Wrong dryer for application, ex: regular dryer for a high temp. application(piston compressor).
~Remi M, General Management, Laval, Canada
High ambient and approach temps on cycling dryers dramatically shorten the life of the unit.
~Todd M, Engineer, Downers Grove, IL
