Spectrometer repair services provide a cost-effective solution for refurbishment, calibration, and repair for all types of spectrometers and spectrometer system components. Types of spectrometers include:
Infrared (IR) spectrometers - These determine molecular structure by emiting IR radiation. Absorption of this radiation causes vibrational and rotational excition of groups of atoms in a molecule. Structural information is obtained by comparing absorption readings with the characteristic absorptions of functional groups.
Mass spectrometers - These ionize sample molecules using high energy electrons and measure the mass to charge ratio of the ions using electrostatic acceleration and magnetic field perturbation. This provides a precise molecular weight readout.
Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometers - These determine molecular structure by emitting low-energy radio frequency radiation which causes excitation of nuclear spin states. The spectrometers are tuned to certain nuclei (e.g. 1H, 13C, 19F, 31P). The high-resolution spectroscopy distinguishes and counts atoms in different locations in the molecule.
Ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectrometers - These determine molecular structure by emitting relatively high-energy light in the ultraviolet-visible spectrum which causes electronic excitation. The absorption measures molecular transitions from the ground state to the excited state, from which molecular structures (functional and bonding groups) can be identified.
