Auto Measuring of Auto Parts
An auto maker required tolerances of four microns on bores in aluminum castings — 5x better than variations typical in volume machining. Their solution: a new 50 nm resolution XY stage that features cross roller linear bearings. Attaching stylus probes to the linear motor stage automates measuring that was previously done manually.
