APTIV™ Film for Improved Electrical Insulation
Victrex plc.
APTIV™ Film for Improved Electrical Insulation

Victrex APTIV™ film is an alternative for polyimide electrical insulation films that are used in electrical systems which operate in challenging environments, such as those prevalent in the petrochemical, mass transport, and nuclear industries. With its superior chemical and hydrolysis resistance, APTIV™ film provides improved performance, enhanced durability, strength, toughness, and wear-resistance. APTIV film's excellent dielectric strength enables the use of thinner insulation while improving the thermal conductivity compared with polyimide films.

R&D REPORT
High Altitude Hypermiling
  High Altitude Hypermiling

It's well known that commercial aircraft are considerable energy hogs, but United Airlines demonstrated jet fuel savings exceeding 1,400 gal (5,300 liters) on a recent transatlantic round-trip. The Boeing 777 was granted a flexible flight path, allowing pilots freedom to minimize resistance to headwinds and exploit favorable winds. No modifications to the aircraft were made and the pilots adhered strictly to all safety regulations. GPS technology allowing an aircraft to broadcast its own position via a transmitter to other aircraft will enable hypermiling implementation on a larger scale.
